This week I’m deviating from my typical blog format in order to offer a pinch more personal information, plus a pitch for an upcoming event. As always, thanks for stopping by.
Although a good portion of my time is occupied by assorted writing projects and this blog, I also am a member of the St. Louis chapter of Sisters in Crime, a national organization with many local chapters established across the USA. The organization was initially established to assist and promote women mystery writers. Since its origin, SinC has expanded to also allow interested mystery Misters to join the ranks. This coming weekend, my fellow local members and I will participate in Gateway Con, the first of what promises to become an annual writer’s conference and reader’s convention held in St. Louis, Missouri.
Throughout the weekend, readers may enjoy free, continuous presentations by best-selling authors in the readers’ hall. Writer’s conference participants also may take advantage of writing workshops, critique sessions, master classes, and pitch sessions conducted with both publishers and literary agents.
Visit the Sisters in Crime table to meet our St. Louis area mystery writers and receive a FREE RAFFLE TICKET in order to enter hourly drawings. Entrants may win one of several fabulous gift packages that showcase the works of our area members. All gift packages include one or more SinC members’ books, plus a few other goodies.
If you love to read, Gateway Con is the place to be. The Reader’s Hall is open from Noon to six p.m. on Friday and from nine a.m. to six p.m. on Saturday.
Sponsors for the event include:
St. Louis Writer’s Guild
St. Louis Press Club
St. Louis Publishers Association
Greater St. Louis Sisters in Crime
Missouri Romance Writers of America
Gateway Con will take place June 16, 17 and 18, 2017, at the Airport Renaissance Hotel, 9801 Natural Bridge Rd., St. Louis, MO 63134.

If this year’s conference is a no-go, I apologize for the short notice on my part. But please, continue to check out the Gateway Con website to make plans for next year.
